James Mason was a member of the American Nazi Party/NSWPP from 1966 to 1976; co- founder of the NSM in 1975; NSLF member from 1976 to 1982; editor of two NSWWP periodicals between 1978 and 1980. Published the newsletter SIEGE from 1980 to 1982 for the NSLF and then until 1986 as Universal Order, which advocated an array of violent acts and promoted Charles Manson as the new neo-Nazi leader. An abridged anthology of the newsletter, Siege, was published in 1993. A second edition appeared in 2003 and additional ones in 2015, 2017, 2021, and 2023. Imprisoned between 1995 and 1999; afterward, Mason self-published a number of books, including The Theocrat and Revisiting Revelation. After a revival of interest in Siege in 2015, Mason became a cult figure and mentor to younger neo-Nazis who embraced his ideas.
