Prior to incorporation, the chapter was founded sometime in "early 2016."[1] In 2018, the chapter began its case against the city of Scottsdale, which it lost in February 2020.[2] The Satanic Temple has appealed the case, and as of April 2020, there has been no further movement in the case. [3]
